how to start game programming

hi folks

about a yr ago i was googl`ing the same pharses. though i am not sure ,have i found the right solution or not , i have found a path which would lead me to become a game programmer.

I am person who was awed by gaming right from the first pacman game i played at the age of 10.Always curious to know about the stuff that's behind the screen.

So i decided to become a game programmer after getting a graduation from the basic computer science degree.I felt its never too late to start ur career in game programming if you are good at basic computers programming and good geometry maths .It is not necessary that you have to be a hardcore gamer to become a game programmer.Being passionate and motivated will do.

Now the problem is always where to start.
there are few basic stuff you should be sure about:
  • As C++ is the widely used programming language in most of the industries, and its is the low level programming which never compromises on the performance.
  • Learn the fundamentals other and OOP these include:Variables,Conditional Statements,Loops,Functions,Return values,Parameter passing.
  • Good book i would suggest is the Effective C++ (there are many other good books out there).
  • There are two important api's OpenGL and DirectX.(Others),are the widely used and starter's friendly
  • I would definitely recomend OpenGL.OpenGL library are GLUT,Gxbase, etc(alternatives) which takes care of all usual and necessary problems related when creating a window application.
  • One of the most preferred IDE working environment is Visual studio has a set of handy tools to start with.
The above mentioned points are just to set up the environment to start with , To actually start with the game development start follow some of the good free sites offer tutorials like

As i have just started my game programming studies i will keep posting many such guides along my studies.
for now happy new year 2010!.

iphone to blackberry

Hi folks

I recently came across this scenario where my friend has to switch his iphone to blackberry. But all his contacts and calendar and other stuff has to be moved to blackberry, so

To move from iphone to computer:
  1. Connect iphone to itunes
  2. Click on ur iphone icon on the left sidebar
  3. then in the main screen select the "info" tab
  4. select the first option under "contacts" and select any mail client like outlook or lotus notes (or if u are using vista transfer it to windows contacts), preferably choose outlook(bcas blackberry manager supports outlook express)
  5. choose "apply" which is at the bottom of the screen and choose "sync"
Open outlook to check the contacts has been moved

From computer to Blackberry
  1. Connect bb to the bbmanager
  2. Open the synchronize wizard and select the contacts
  3. choose the application to be used to sync (choose outlook)
  4. then "synchronize now" and all the contacts are up.
Note : I have assumed that u guys already have following application installed:itunes, outlook(complete the setup wizard without the mail settings),blackberry desktop manager.

Similarly calendar events can also be shifted.

Ok what if u dont have a computer or never connected to itunes before , then simply download the application called "iSim", which would copy ur contacts and message to ur sim card.

No steve jobs at WWDC '09

The company made a list of product announcements. Here’s a roundup of the big Apple news so far:

  • The New iPhone 3G S
  • $99 iPhone 3G
  • MacBook Pro Now Available in 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch Models
  • MacBook Air Price Cut
  • Mac OS X Snow Leopard to Be Released in September
  • Safari 4
Apple fanboys got everything to smile for inspite of missing JOBS . Apple also cut the entry-level price of its ultra-thin MacBook Air to $1,499 ;-) . Apple slashed the price of the 8GB iPhone 3G model to $99(amazing isn't it).

A 16GB model will be available for $199 and a new 32GB model for $299 (a caveat: in the U.S., it requires a two-year AT&T rate plan). If you have a contract in place, then the device is going to cost you more to upgrade: $299 for the 3G and $399/$499 for the 3G S.

Apple fanboys in cloud 9 with the price cuts and faster iphone 3G S which is atleast 3 times faster than former.

GO GO PSP

Sony announced two new upcoming features/services for the PSP and PSP Go - Media Go and Sense Me. Media Go will replace the standard PSP Media Manager PC and improve on it by making transfer of media far easier. It should be out in October, along with the PSP Go.

Sense Me, on the other hand, tries to understand your taste in music and deliver custom music playlists. The feature should be available at the end of this year.
